Erica, we just sent our team back to Haiti for Phase 2.  We are so pleased that your project is moving along.  I must say that I feel because of our small size, we can maneuver ourselves around a dire situation and do our work without many of the complexities associated with larger NGOs.  We have been fortunate to have determined and dedicated people on the ground making sure that our small contribution in the grand scheme goes a long way.

Regarding your questions, I will forward a suggested project for the $5,000 donation.  Ben, our project director who is in Haiti now is working on this and it should be ready by Monday.

Regarding question 2, I am having Mary Beth Simpson call you to explain our financials.

Ben and I are also working on #3.

Donna,

Thank you for your follow up email, I apologize for my delayed response. The project I originally contacted Mr. Flain about was the J.P. Morgan Good Venture Case Competition at Howard University. I believe you have been in contact with Akil Cooper, a member of my team. As Team Leader for this assignment, I am pleased to inform you that my team has been selected as one of the five finalist for this competition! We will present our recommendation to J.P. Morgan this upcoming Thursday, February 18, 2010.

My team is extremely excited to have advanced and is currently preparing for our presentation. To ensure that we put our best foot forward and win this competition, I do have a few questions for you:
  1. Can you send me a financial breakdown of a $5,000 contribution? I know on www.worldwaterrelief.com it states that a $5,000 donation will provide a large orphanage with water for two years, how were you able to come to this conclusion?
  2.  I am a little confused by the Financial Statements you sent Akil, however I am also no wiz at non-profit accounting. Is there someone I can talk to about the derivation of the statements? We have to provide J.P. Morgan with a financial overview of your organization and I want to be sure that we fully understand your statements and are able to address any questions they may ask.
  3. Do you have any measurements in place to capture the Social Return on Investment? J.P. Morgan has asked us to define the social improvements an investment in your organization would bring. I know World Water Relief is just over a year old but didn't know if you had any one-year achievements we could highlight to underscore the importance of an investment in your organization.

Thank you so much for your assistance in this matter, I greatly appreciate your time. If you have any questions concerning the competition please feel free to reach me at this address. I look forward to hearing from you soon and hope you have a great weekend!

Warm regards,
