It is on the cards for a future release.
Low priority since only Safari and iOS really support the Apple HLS format, which you called m3u8. That is the file extension, or so I thought... It is extended M3U format, in UTF8 and adopted by Apple for HTTP Live Streaming protocol.
Other browsers wonder wtf it is and some try and play it and most fail horribly, such as Android.
