Hi, Green Club!
Making use of this listserv to see if any of you have been approached by/have dealt with contractors from the Energy Upgrade California program, and/or have been through the HERO program for financing. Thoughts on one, the other, or both would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance! And if this has already been discussed/there’s a previous e-mail chain, I’d love to be directed toward it.
Cheers,
Rie

We were happy with the building doctors many years ago (~5?). they seemed to be part of the force of folks in the field pushing legislation, etc. , as well as doing the work.
They did a very complete analysis w/heat sensing devices and blowing air through the house, etc. we ended up blowing insulation into our walls and in the attic and few other odds and ends. Just be careful about having your house full of holes when it rains. They didn’t seem to think that was a problem (I guess because everything dries out so fast in CA?), but it didn’t seem wise to me.

I was shopping for an A/C and one of the contractors offered the HERO financing option. It was significantly more expensive. I got the feeling that they thought since I was financing I wouldn’t mind paying more. I could get a better deal buying cheaper and financing with a home equity loan. Be careful.
I don’t have experience dealing with Energy Upgrade program. Would also like to know more.
