The Unitarian Society of Germantown (USG) is a vibrant religious community in NW Philadelphia, PA. Located in the Joseph Priestley District of the UUA, we are a congregation of over 300 adult members. USG is a family of people with diverse spiritual orientations and from many different backgrounds. We are vibrant, multicultural and growing. Our mission is Building Beloved Community with compassion, service and empowerment. We seek to work with a religious professional who will help us to live out our mission, core beliefs and values.
Our next Director of Religious Education will have significant impact in helping us to achieve our congregational goals:
· Engage in inspiring and enriching worship and an array of spiritual practices.
· Participate in life-span experiences of meaning, knowledge and wisdom.
· Be vital, effective, compassionate agents for social justice through a rich variety of service and dialogue experiences.
· Develop deep and meaningful relationships within an intentionally welcoming, multicultural and caring community.
We offer developmentally appropriate and diverse Church School classes for all ages, with special Sundays devoted to children’s chapel and social justice, so that children may learn to live out their responsibility to others. We currently have approximately 90 children and youth registered for our programs. Our DRE will join a creative and dynamic staff.
Our salaried DRE will work 25-30 hours per week, 12 months per year and be primarily responsible for planning, organizing and supervising the religious education program for children and youth of USG. Full-time applicants will be considered; if hired, additional responsibilities will be incorporated in the role. The DRE will be required to work most Sundays, attend meetings and events some evenings and will occasionally participate in meetings or training events outside of Philadelphia. Salary and benefits will comply with UUA Fair Compensation Guidelines.
