Reports to: Religious Education (RE) Committee & UUCY Board and is supervised by
Parish Minister
Purpose of Position
Ensure strong faith development programs for children, youth and adults and help with
transitioning issues.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Prefer an experienced LREDA member or person with degree in a field related to
education, human services, program management, or volunteer management
· Prefer the candidate has or will complete Interim/Transitions training before
starting.
· Comfort with Healthy Congregations leadership (Friedman/Steinke approach)
· Strong leadership skills and interpersonal communication skills
· Knowledgeable of and embrace Unitarian Universalist religious education
philosophy
· Strong interest in encouraging liberal faith development in children, youth and
adults
· Proven ability to use web-based and office technologies
· Proven ability to encourage, nurture and collaborate with volunteers, staff and
congregation
· Thinks creatively to solve problems and meet challenges
· Embodies values of caring, compassion, and love
· Ability to organize several different tasks, events, and people

Roles & Responsibilities
· Encourage a multi-generational, faith development perspective in all ministries.
· Recruit, train, and support teachers and youth advisors
· Evaluate and introduce to congregation new Unitarian Universalist curricula for
adults, with volunteer assistance
· Monitor annual RE budget and related reserve accounts
· Supervise Nursery Staff, ensuring safe and efficient operations
· Work with the ministers to create cohesive and attractive multi-generational
services
· Recruit and advise RE committee members.
· Help congregation and leaders to process the transition of the predecessor.
· Identify the changes needed in RE staffing, and advise on DRE reporting
structure.
· Assist congregation to develop a strong lay RE leadership system.
· Develop and implement a transition strategy for transferring information to next
religious educator.
