TRAINING QUERY - New DRE, Admin REnaissance Module

Welcome newcomers to Joseph Priestley District religious education leadership!

We thought it would be a fantastic idea to provide some basic training for you – and we are wondering about your availability during our suggested dates:

September 22-23 for the New DRE Workshop

What:     A day spent discussing what it means to be a Director of Religious Education in a UU Congregation - and how to foster a mutually rewarding relationship with that Congregation and other staff!

Who:      This is for DREs within the first two years in their position, paid RE Assistants and RE Chairs at congregations with no professional RE Leadership.  Registration is limited, so sign up early!! 

This is an exciting time to have chosen religious education as a vocation. We will explore the following topics: Leadership Skills, The Elements of Religious Education Programming, Planning for Professional Growth which will include information about the UUA Religious Education Credentialing Program and how it can work for you and your congregation. We will begin with some self-assessment strategies and end with a roundtable in which we will focus on your most pressing questions or concerns. We hope this time together will help make this challenging work more manageable and enriching.

September 24-26 for the Administration Module

Goals for leaders and participants

§       To recognize the scope of administrative duties in each participant’s own situation.
§       To become more aware of the components of the administration of RE programs.
§       To recognize that in a congregational setting these are often shared responsibilities.
§       To recognize and acknowledge the various individuals and entities who share these duties and responsibilities and to build skills in developing relationships and alliances.

§       To become aware of new skills and techniques for information storage and retrieval and for decision-making.

This training is being offered in partnership with Metro NY, St Lawrence and Ohio Meadville districts.  It would likely be held in New Jersey at a conference center.
