Exception Handling in Java WebServices

As a web service provider when defining custom exception which type (checked or unchecked) of exception base class I should extend for a better design and why?

In my opnion it depende if the APP,that os consuming your WebService, is also implementar in Java (mainly if you must use an exception, or exception class hierachi, defined in a arquitetural API within your corporation).
If the APP, the consoles it, is implementar in ASP (or obter w/pior exception handling) will NOT be useful in tracking/debug prodution raios.
