Subject: JOINT CREDIT (E-JDA) self nomination deadline....

CAPT's et all,

       On September 30, 2013 the Reserve Joint Credit Self-nomination rules will align with the Active Duty rules; members will have 12 months to submit for Joint Credit after tour complete.  If you have previous Joint tours, or  experiences (MOBS, SELRES tours) that you think may qualify for Joint Credit that you have completed since September 11, 2001, you need to SELF NOMINATE for your experiences in JMIS, link below, prior to September 30, 2013.  Review the definition of Joint Matters, as defined in 10 USC, sec 668; if your responsibilities during your tour align with the definition then you need to self-nominate as soon as possible.  If your experience was at the TACTICAL level, for example, an Intel Officer working as a watch officer in a JOC (will not qualify):

a) Joint Matters.-(1) In this chapter, the term "joint matters" means matters related to the achievement of unified action by integrated military forces in operations conducted across domains such as land, sea, or air, in space, or in the information environment, including matters relating to-

(A) national military strategy;

(B) strategic planning and contingency planning;

(C) command and control of operations under unified command;

(D) national security planning with other departments and agencies of the United States; or

(E) combined operations with military forces of allied nations.

(2) In the context of joint matters, the term "integrated military forces" refers to military forces that are involved in the planning or execution (or both) of operations involving participants from-

(A) more than one military department; or

(B) a military department and one or more of the following:

(i) Other departments and agencies of the United States.

(ii) The military forces or agencies of other countries.

(iii) Non-governmental persons or entities.

For 'joint exercise' credit you need to review the JQR's and approved Joint Exercise List on the website link below under DISCRETIONARY CREDIT, to verify if any exercises you participated in are listed as an approved exercise.  You will not nominate for exercise credit via the JMIS website, review the DISCRETIONARY submission procedures on the NPC Joint Officer link below, under DISCRETIONARY CREDIT.

The self nomination web site is:

The NPC Joint Officer web site is:

Contact information for the Reserve Joint Officer Service Manager is listed on the Joint Officer web page.  Directions for completing a Self Nomination are attached.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.  Have a great weekend.
