Hi all

Our sponsors from last month, Oracle, have asked the JUG to send through a list of independent contractors interested in Java work for one of their clients, Business Connexion. If you’re interested please email me your contact details (name, email, tel) and I’ll send it through to them. I’ll compile the list and send it through either tomorrow or Thursday morning.

Thanks

Michael

Hi

Any ad needs to be OK’ed by the committee (jozijug-...@googlegroups.com) The informal policy we’ve come up with is that a request from sponsors of the JUG will be granted. We don’t want the lists to be spammed by ads, but we do want to encourage sponsorship.  We’re still working on it so any input is welcome!

Thanks

Michael

Hi Michael

Just checking – is it OK in terms of the JUG policies that we use this forum to advertise jobs?

Cheers

Chris

Kutloisiso and Chris, those are valid points. In saying that it’s to be kept at a networking level, you’re in essence saying that companies that attend the JUG can use it to recruit, but not recruiters and companies that sponsor sessions? Unless I’ve misunderstood.

How would you solve the problem of lost sponsorship?

Is there a way to balance networking, recruitment and sponsorship so that all parties benefit?

To the group: Would you be wary of encouraging colleagues to attend out of fear of them being head hunted?

Thanks

Michael

Yep – I tend to agree – I think we should keep it at the networking level.

Hi

This is a bit of a sensitive issue, but think that the group should not be a recruitment platform but a networking platform. Think that if companies start sponsoring the events so that they could recruit, others would be reluctant to encourage colleagues to come to the group meetings in fear that they would be head hunted.

Regards
Kutloisiso

I don’t see the problem with being head hunted, if anything it’s a bonus.
