this is from the OM updates about the Doulos and Logos ships . . the Doulos, as you know, has been in southeast asia for the past month or so . . . thought this might encourage your thailand team:

FROM START TO FINISH
The Doulos arrival in Bangkok was surrounded by uncertainty; due to the
political situation,a member of the Thai royal family cancelled their
visit to the ship; the onboard book fair and conferences were quiet
while few people ventured into the city. Crew prayed in earnest for
more visitors. A flurry of media attention followed, and suddenly the
ship's conferences and book fair were packed. One Sunday morning saw
crowds of people waiting to climb the gangway. Even flash floods didn't
deter the city's Christian leaders coming in large numbers for a
programme to learn more about Doulos.

OVERCOMING OBSTACLES
Bilay was determined to volunteer on Doulos - despite his disabilities
and the journey involved. Childhood polio left him only able to walk on
all fours, but he still serves as a chaplain and handyman at an
orphanage. The children are refugees from Burma's persecuted Karen
tribe, and Bilay travelled from the Thai border area to reach Doulos in
Bangkok. Helping pack titles in the book fair, his service and
testimony touched crew. Bilay was also moved by the teaching sessions he
attended on board. "I can use this when I go home to tell the tribal
people more about Jesus!" he declared.

ONLY BY PRAYER
"How do I become a Christian? I'm thinking about it in the future."
Doulos Deck Officer Ross Hickling (Canada) discovered such questions
come by prayer and not coincidence. When the ship arrived in Bangkok, he
had prayed for contacts to share the Gospel with. Soon after, he met a
group of monks in the onboard book fair, and one of them knew English.
Ross felt God answering his prayer. The group returned regularly and on
the third time Ross asked if he could tell them about his faith in
Christ. To his delight, not only did they agree, but they also accepted
prayers, Bibles and Christian study guides from him!

Hello Thaites!

Just wanted to let you all know that am planning to open up my place for dinner on Nov 11th.  So save the date.  Yes, you all heard my many tales of woe, packing and moving to my new rental - now you can help me celebrate.

I know that there is a lot being prepared for the Missions conference.  So let me know if you are free and can make it.

Thanks,
Julie
