Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share some good news! The church has committed $3,500 to help HOU build it's first building and is willing to commit, as they observe the progress, as much as they need for the other two buildings.  Thanks for your prayers.  Happy Friday everyone!

Richard,

The board has approved $3,500 initially for the first of three buildings HOU plans to build.  After the first building is built, and we observe the progress, the church will commit as much as the full rest of the need.  Please follow up with Tae Chang if the fund is not sent in time.

Many Blessings,

Danny Han

Subject: HOU Proposal

Hi Pastor Danny,

I'm forwarding this email to help with the proposal for HOU.  This email is from Ron who works with World Vision and is helping Pastor Somchart and Nina in various aspects of the orphange.  I understand you may be busy with your mother's birthday celebration, but I was wondering if you could set aside some time to discuss this proposal.  It would not have to be this week, but next week.  I can not do Tuesday evening, but I am willing to meet any other evening and possibly Friday morning.  Please let me know when it would be a good time to meet.  You can contact me on my cell phone at 973-600-4177.  Thank you for your help.

Subject: Land for House of Union
To: ric...@gmail.com

Dear Richard and body of Christ,

Praise the Lord Jesus Christ!

God in His mercy and grace has allowed and led Debbie and I to give the money to purchase land for HOU!  God has led us to buy 4 rai ( 2.529 rai equals 1 acre) of land at 145,000 baht per rai for a total of 580,000 baht ($16, 771.00 at 35 baht per USD exchange rate--land prices are very high here).  This land is very level, but elevated with a nice slow slope for drainage.  It has mature leachie trees (8-12) for shade and fruit.  It has a large fish pond which drains well (no chance of flooding), which would have cost 100,000 baht to dig.  There is electricity to the property (need to pay for 4 large cement poles and run wiring to the land) and a good road, paved except for the last couple of hundred yards (needs gravel).  It is a 20 minute drive on paved roads to the children's present Christian school!  We plan to use more of Jesus' money in our pockets to build modest dorms for girls and boys (each dorm for 12 or so children for a total of 20-24 children).  We hope to build a building to use for dining, study, indoor play area, and worship.  Somchart and Nina will build a house on the land.  Ron and Debbie plan to build a modest, simple house without AC, with their own money on this land.  We will be grandparents, helpers, teacher, medical provider, and Bible teacher.  We will not start a church, but continue to worship at the local Lahu church; helping us all to become stronger disciples of Jesus.  This land will be all in the name of HOU.  House of Union is a Lahu project.  Ron and Debbie are just two of Jesus' followers who help and advice to do things God's way.

Principles to direct HOU:

1. Therefore, HOU will NEVER borrow money (Romans 13:8).
2. Therefore, HOU will remain a Lahu project.
3. Therefore, HOU will be strongly connected to the local Lahu church(es).
4. Therefore, the goal of HOU will be to make disciples of Jesus from the Lahu people and children (not just people with a better education who can live for more material things).
5. Therefore, HOU will strive to be as self-sufficient as possible.  The land will be used for raising fish, pigs, cows, chickens, vegetables, etc.  This means making the monthly budget as independent of outside support as possible.  Monies will be sought from outside resources, organizations, and Christians, BUT NEVER for monthly budget needs.  Such monies will be directed to special projects (buildings, education needs, etc).  Of course, this will not happen overnight, so outside support will be needed until complete self-sufficiency can be reached.  But the key is to stay satisfied with less, content in living within means and never using children to become fat ourselves.

Sincerely in Christ,
Ron and Debbie
God's grace in Christ Jesus is abundant for these goals.

Please pray and plan to partner as prayer supporters for this God's work among some of the poorest of the poor.  Please pray and plan to come along side for special project giving to assist with buildings or however the Lord leads.  Plan to sponsor one child monthly (see houseofunion.org).  There is nothing wrong with poverty if we have enough to eat, shelter, and clothing AND seek first and foremost His kingdom (His presence and rule) and His righteousness (doing the right thing always) as His disciples.  God promises to provide what we need as His followers!  We do not want our Lahu people to become materialistic Christians, but on fire real world changing disciples of Jesus!
