Hi there!

I have an old Gravis Xterminator in my wardrobe that long laid unused on a forgotten top shelf and I thought it would be awesome to revive it and gift it to someone. As far as I managed to establish, it's a digital joystick and in theory a simple DA15 ---> USB converter (similar to this: https://sites.google.com/site/joystickrehab/belkinadapter), but it did not work. I also tried the Rockfire adapter and when plugged in, system calibration utility shows just something like states of 2 buttons flickering between 1 and 0 and this is it.

Could you guys give me some tips or point me in the right direction to start wokring on this? If I have to tinker with some microcontroller, it's OK, it'll likely take a lot of time for me, but I can attempt this.

Thanks in advance!
Chris

I've found this place when I started hunting for documentation for my Thrustmaster FCD and WCS II.  I had decided to pull them out after seeing this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSJLgCD8jeM from Necroware and decided to build some.

The video may be helpful as he gets into the differences between analog( DOS )  and digital(Windows) modes.

I'm still waiting on the parts to come in but in the meantime I've been trying to understand what the arduino code is doing.

Hi Jon!

Thank you so much for finding this! I'm still in the weeds about this gamepad and frankly I was about to give up on this "project", but your message and this video nudged me a bit in the right direction. I have a spare Arduino nano laying around and i think I will another look at all of this as soon as I have some time to spare. Thank you again!
