Hi, this is my setup, r7500 with usb storage connected to it, on the same network I have an android set top box runnning kodi, I cant figure out how to add that ready share drive to kodi, http connects but opening it inside kodi no files appear,
All my greatest hits, albums MB identified them ad being from the Bee Gees. Hence I deleted all these albums. All the others i ran through MB some I clustered others mb identified correctly . some i had to scan. every time i was happy with the results i saved the results on a seperate a musicbrainz share on my nas.
Once i was happy with the saved results I moved the folder to a development share.I loaded into KODI the development share as my music source. All was fine then I started to reload from CD my the music i previously deleted, The first CD was for the ban d America. I ran these files through MB and clustered them and tagged them. when I go to load then into KODI and I go to their artist view I look at the artis i just uploaded and i see 2 albums one with album cover one without with the same list of songs (and I can play the songs from both albums)
THis is fine for most files. However in for 27 Greatest Hits albums on which MB performed this function It tagged them and put them in the right column as an album from the bee gees. I deleted the album from my server and re ripped it again and passed it again through MB and MB tagged it correctly.

JellyCon behaves more like a standard Kodi streaming add-on. Media is accessed primarily by going through the Add-ons -> JellyCon menu, however depending on what skin is being used custom shortcuts and widgets can be added to the home menu. It also allows easier switching between multiple Jellyfin servers or users since it doesn't have to rely on syncing all the metadata down. By not having metadata synced, it has to request info from the server which can take a bit more time when you're browsing, but you don't have to wait for the database to sync or keep it up to date. It is also compatible with other media sources and can be used with other add-ons without issue.
Actually it was pretty easy since I was almost half-way there. All I had to do was adding an additional object named params to the JSON-RPC call and within that passing the directory string. In this example, my music resides on HDD1/Media/Music/Albums on host BPI1 on my Samba network. So the path to my music that's configured in .kodi/sources.xml on my media center looks like this:

I am looking to have a way to manage my kodi library and have it on the server with the bonus of having an extra mediaplayer with a NAS. All the mediaart in Kodi takes up a lot of space and i want it on one system. Headless kodi is another option but as i searched for it i havent found that to be a good solution.
My tv or a googletvstick doesnt have enough space to handle a large collection with kodi and using a usb-stick for added storage has not been working well. The solution i am looking at is to start kodi with x11 to my connected monitor. This way i can configure everything like i want it and then my other kodi instances can use the mediaart from the nas and also use my plugins.
If I told you about the person I was just helping with NFS.. went through all his settings on the client and the server.. they were 100% right.
So just on a whim cuz I'm out of ideas, check the IP on the laptop. It's not on the same freaking network as the server.
You don't have near the patience I do, but I wanted to cyber punch him in the junk.
However, if i edit the storage path for thumbnails in advanced.xml in kodi to point to a folder on the nas then everything should be stored there. So i would mostly be set and I can skip a kodi configuration on the server.
Only issue would be library updates and such. A grapic interface for kodi would be very handy! I can install kodi in docker and configure everything from there and move it to a headless install for updates as a solution.
Headache? I have used nfs only for years and never have an issues. I used to have a three node VMware cluster using nfs for storage. I have six TVs with firetv sticks and kodi using it plus my Linux laptops.
I use a mysql database docker on my system for my kodi's to access. In order to make it work though you have to be able to add an xml file to the kodi install that drirects it to use the database. This is probably not an option for firesticks and such.
Yes, i think you actually can add an xml file. I checked in kodi and you can reach all the config files with files in kodi advanced(as the system is shut down access for folders on android). Just find the xml file it and copy the file into the correct folder with the filer in kodi.
Then it doesnt matter much, but i like to have all thousands of movies to look through every single day ? There is a guide on one kodi page how to set up one database and then have a advanced.xml file to point the a database in omv. I dont know how to do that though. Is docker the best solution for a db or better to use a plugin? Omv doesnt use a mariadb for the system, right?
An easy to configure and working solution is to use jellyfin on the server and kodi+jellyfin_plugin on the client. You get the benefits of both worlds, synced core database and client with the versatility of kodi.
I have LE 10.0.3 running on an RPi4 and have been using the same configuration for a few years (updating through various LE versions). I rebooted the RPi4 yesterday and am now stuck on the Kodi screen-- the one that comes after the "LibreElec Just enough OS for Kodi" screen. I attached a picture below so I'm clear. SSH into the RPi4 works, it has an internet connection as measured through response pings to external sites, and it has a proper wireguard connection to a VPN service. I have tried rebooting a few times, and executed a shutdown and power up. Same result, I am at stuck at the Kodi screen.
Have a look at /storage/.kodi/temp/kodi.log for errors/issues. My thoughts would be a corrupted DB file or something add-on related. Worst case stop Kodi and rename /storage/.kodi to /storage/.kodi-old and restart; then start copying back config/content items from the old install until you either find the problem or end up with a working install again.
Sonarr is running on a Raspberry Pi 3B+.
My download client is Transmission.
An external hard drive is connected to the Pi and is mounted.
This external hard drive is accessible through Samba share.
Sounds like the installation instructions were ignored and sonarr, the download client, and kodi are not all running either as the same user with 644/755 permissions or at least as the same group with 664 and 775 permissions
Vsftp is the ftp app I use in kodi to see and play the mount. The system is ok until I play any 4k movie, its when the IO get high. Something is wrong with the GD mount that the system cant get the playback smooth. But the system is not bound, just in this scenario.

Multichannel PCM over ARC will not work indeed but it could do DTS and AC3 passthrough. To make that work you've to set the profile of pulseaudio at stereo and enable passthrough (ouput devices --> advanced options) and enable passthrough in Kodi. It seems like that pulseaudio transcodes DTS-HD to DTS, so that should work work over ARC. AAC multichannel audio however will not be transcoded so that's why you'll only hear front-left and front-right.
