I was on the Tineco USA website buying accessories for my Tineco stick vac when I stumbled on the sale banner for a number of wet-dry vacs. I started reading reviews, which were generally over-the-top positive, so I pulled the trigger given the prospect of vacuuming AND mopping at the same time. My entire 4000 sq-ft house has vinyl plank flooring. With three rambunctious (and destructive) cats, the floors need constant attention, and vacuuming the entire house carefully is a 90-minute job. If I mop after vacuuming, that's probably another 2 hours of intense physical activity. Moreover, the swiffer wetjet leaves plenty of grime behind- the floors never seem completely clean. Enter the Tineco Floor One S5 Pro 2. The very first time I used it, I was blown away with the ease, convenience, and clean it offered. My girlfriend was so excited, she decided to do my entire house, which took about 2.5 hours total (she needed to recharge a couple times, but that process was pretty quick). The tool is intuitively easy to use and the level of clean is FAR better than anything I've achieved with any kind of conventional mopping system. I do have a few minor gripes. First, the app that can be used to control the cleaning mode has never worked for me. That could be operator error, but I'm usually pretty good at making web-connected things work. Second, the mop roller only gets to about 2" from baseboards when the vacuum is run parallel to the wall; it is possible to get a little bit closer if you run the vacuum perpendicular to the wall (like, going straight toward the wall). It's not a deal breaker, but it'd be a lot nicer if it mopped almost to the baseboard. Third, the instructions are not explicit about the need to clean the dirty water tank and the roller brush carefully with warm, soapy water after every use. Failure to do so will result in some stank developing!! Due to these shortcomings, I docked the unit a full star; otherwise this would be a no-brainer 5-star device.
We were switching from a crosswave to Tineco and was I was skeptical at first due to most models being cordless, but the Tineco is so much better. I practically use it everyday. The cordless is so nice and easy to move around the house. The self clean is wonderful and a lot less maintenance than the Bissell. I find the battery life is more than enough to do the areas I need to do.

Tineco is making the best and most efficient mop vacs on the market and the quality is reflected throughout the product line. Other than the huge price gap, there are two main differences between the Tineco Floor One S7 Pro and the more budget-friendly Tineco iFloor 3 Cordless Wet Dry Vacuum Cleaner: smart features and edge-to-edge cleaning.
Because a mop vac effectively and efficiently mops a floor while also sucking up dirt and debris, it cuts cleaning time in half. At least. So if you have a substantial amount of flooring not covered by carpet, and you would like to spend less time cleaning those floors, a mop vac is for you.
Mopping the floors of my century-old home used to be a whole thing. It involved sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, drying, and going around the perimeter with a microfiber cloth to get everything (dog hair, wayward kosher salt, etc.) that was left behind.
You need zero plumbing skills maybe and one set of pliers to connect this handy little hose to the pipe that feeds (very clean) water into your toilet tank and you can use it to rinse all of your mop vac parts.
After obsessively researching popular and highly-rated mop vacs at various price points, I tried 12 models at home. I assembled each according to the manual (or quick start guide if included) and fully charged the batteries as instructed.
Because I have small kids and the aforementioned big, hairy rescue mutt, my home is a wonderfully messy canvas on which to test. I used each mop vac multiple times to clean various floor types: my textured black kitchen floor, my old hardwood floors, and my tiled bathroom floor. And even though only a few of the devices were indicated for use on area rugs, I passed over my rugs with each model, too (no mop vac impressed me in the rug-cleaning department).
Mop vac runtime varies from 20 minutes to about 40, and I wanted one that could clean all of the exposed hard flooring on the main level of my (admittedly small) house. More efficient mop vacs could clean my floors on a single pass and with those machines, battery life was less of an issue.
Is the mop vac easy to put together and use out of the box? Is it easy to fill the clean water tank and add a solution? Is it easy to switch between modes and identify errors like a misaligned water tank or clogs? Is there a cord that makes quick cleaning not-so-quick? (I found cordless models to be much easier to use than corded models since the draw of these machines is the ability to vacuum and mop the whole house in a matter of minutes.) Does the mop vac automatically charge when I put it on the dock or do I need to plug it in?
Is the mop vac easy to push? Can it handle tight spaces and corners? Does the handle recline enough to get under furniture and raised appliances? (Both of my top picks have motorheads that are about 2.5 inches tall and the handles on both recline to about a 30 angle.)
Do the water tanks hold enough water to last an entire cleaning session? Does the motorhead fit under cabinets and raised appliances? Is it easy to carry up and down stairs? Does it come with a docking station for easy upright storage?
While the Tineco cleans, its color LED display shows you what the device is doing. A lighted circle changes from red for cleaning mode to blue for cleaning success. When the circle is 100 percent red, the Tineco recognizes more cleaning is needed. The battery charge appears on a scale of 1 to 100.
Cleaning this small, high-traffic area normally requires sweeping or dry vacuuming before hand-scrubbing, which usually takes an hour or so. With the Tineco, I was done in less than 10 minutes. The condition of the water in the dirty tank showed the device removed a lot of grime.
After I saw how little cleaning liquid the Tineco applied on the vinyl tile, I knew I could clean the wood flooring that covers most of my main level. The manufacturer says this device is safe for hard surfaces, including sealed wood flooring.
With no precleaning, I ran the Tineco over my wood floors and watched the circle light modulate from red to blue. The light glowed red near my coffee station, around the dining table and throughout the front hallway.
When finished, the floor was completely dry except for a few minor spots, and those dried quickly without my intervention. During our coffee-spill simulation test, I had to stop cleaning once to empty the dirty water tank. (A larger container would be nice.)
A name that is becoming more and more popular with all sorts of vacuum cleaners and related products is Tineco. Beyond their cordless vacuums, one of their most popular product lines is what they call wet/dry vacuums.
The S3 has a few unique features as well. For example, it has the Tineco All-in-One LED display which displays alerts and power level information. It also alerts you to when the brushroll is tangled, how much dirt and debris the S3 is currently encountering and the status of both the clean and dirty water tanks.
But, most importantly for us is the real-time battery life display, where you can tell exactly how long you have left before you need to recharge. The same screen is used on several Tineco products including the Tineco S15 cordless vacuum (review) and some Tineco carpet cleaners.
We tested them with all kinds of spills, stains and debris on a number of different surfaces and found that the Tineco S3 was as good or better than others. For example, with the dried-on stains, it and the CrossWave were virtually identical, cleaning the stains in just one pass. The same thing with the wet liquid test: both the Tineco and the CrossWave picked up the spills with no trouble at all. It was as good as you would want them to be in that regard.
Where we started to notice a difference was with the bigger messes. This was mostly because of the Bissell CrossWave having a lower profile in the front, so the Tineco was able to pick up larger spills better. It also tended not to get as messy for the same reason.
