Generic CAD is a completely different approach in that we look for the largest planar face, choose that as the plane that will be parallel to the nesting plane, and then use geometric extents to determine how thick the part is. If you were designing a solid that needed machining on the top or bottom (think facing), then we would have no idea how thick the part would be, but if you started with an extrude and used the Part provider, then we have all of that information already.
