I would like to setup IMAP so I can play with the mail controllers. I
find the current instructions a bit cryptic.

Can we get a tutorial about how to set up an IMAP server on OS X? I've
googled for OS X/IMAP/postfix but the instructions I found were pretty
overwhelming. I don't know that I actually need to get it set up
enough to actually be able to receive mail on my local dev machine
(although for testing purposes I guess it would be nice to be able to
email directly to localhost and have it show up in Connector or be
able to connect through IMAP and dump some mail into the system to
play with).

Thanks.

Mark

Well, this may become self explanatory after setting a full blown mail server :).

Fortunately, just to try the connector, I think you may get away with just a delivery agent (configured to have a structure that the connector understands.  Using postfix may be the ticket.  I'm using gentoo for mail delivery, so I can't be a big help on the mac.  Try this though: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20031025022626398  this looks promising.  However, on my Mac, the config file appears to be at /private/etc/postfix/main.cf and you'll probably have to tweak home_mailbox in that file to match what JOYENT_MAILDIR points to (or vice versa).  You would only need IMAP for external clients.  The connectors feeds directly off the file structure, the same way the IMAP server would.

Cheers,
Pascal.
