To NENA members and other interested folks,

Join with your neighbors to show some love to your neighborhood's amazing parks and trails by participating in one or more of these Saturday morning work parties in March.  If you've been looking for an opportunity to give back to your community, this is your chance.  These trails and parks add immeasurably to our quality of life, but are easy to take for granted.

* Saturday, March 3 - Joy Avenue Pathway and Pocket Park, 9 am - Noon.
At this NENA event, we'll be finishing up our work mulching the site with cardboard and chips to protect the beautiful new plants we put in the ground in November and to keep the weeds at bay when Spring arrives. The project site is located in the 1600 block of Bethel Street about 1.5 blocks north of the SF Bakery.
Wear sturdy shoes, dress for the weather, and please bring a pitchfork or shovel, work gloves, cardboard boxes, and a wheelbarrow (if you can) to the work party. If you don't have tools or work gloves, we'll have some available for you to use.  If you can't make it to the work party, there are plastic tarps at the Bethel end of the trail where you can leave flattened cardboard boxes.  More information can be found on NENA's website at Joy Avenue Pathway.

The events below are City of Olympia Volunteers in Parks events.  For more information, contact Sylvana Niehuser at snie...@ci.olympia.wa.us or visit www.olympiawa.gov/parkvolunteer.

* Saturday, March 10 - Friendly Grove Park,  10am-1pm - Join us at Friendly Grove Park for a weeding and mulching event. We will work on the tree circles and flower beds to get them ready for spring! Meet at the covered picnic area. Friendly Grove Park is located at 2316 Friendly Grove Rd. NE. Parking is limited so please carpool or use the designated overflow parking area.

* Saturdays, March 17 and March 24 - Mission Creek Nature Park, 10am-1pm - Please join us at Mission Creek Nature Park and help remove storm debris from the trail. The focus will be on moving large branches and limbs from the trail and scattering them in the wooded area. We will meet at the Fir Street entrance. Parking is limited to street parking. Please carpool or find alternative transportation. Mission Creek Nature Park is located at 1500 Fir St. NE.  Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes or boots that can get wet and muddy.

Thanks for your help!
