Dear neighbors and friends,
You're invited to join us at our next not-to-be-missed Chipapalooza work party at the Joy Avenue Pathway and Edible Forest Garden. Whether you're new to the neighborhood, or a long-time resident, this is a great opportunity to get connected with your neighbors and make our corner of the community a even more beautiful place to live.
* When: Saturday, March 19 from 9 am to noon - Even if you can only spare 30 minutes or an hour, we'd welcome your help!
* Where: The pathway and garden links Bethel to Tullis streets along the Joy Avenue right-of-way and is located in the 1600 block of Bethel Street about 1.5 blocks north of the SF Bakery. * What: We plan to clean up storm debris, bust some blackberries and other weeds, and lay down another thick layer of chips along the corridor to help retain moisture and to keep the weeds at bay as the weather gets warmer and drier.
* Why: To get outside and shake off those Winter blues by doing something heartwarming for your community.
* Who: - You! - If you plan to come, please invite a friend or two to join you. If you can't come please help spread the word.
Cardboard, cardboard, and more cardboard...
We still need cardboard to mulch the garden. We've started a pile at the Tullis end of the trail. Please help turn this pile into a mountain. Just drop your flattened boxes on top of the boxes that are already there. If you have a truck or van and you're interested in doing some serious cruising for corrugated, that would be an extraordinary gift.
Wear sturdy shoes, dress for the weather, and please bring a pitchfork or shovel, work gloves, and a wheelbarrow (if you can) to the work party. If you don't have tools or work gloves, we'll have some available for you to use. Bakery treats will be provided!
I look forward to seeing you in the garden on March 19!
With joy and gratitude,
Peter Guttchen
