Hi everyone,
It's been a busy week. I had hoped to send this out sooner.
A bit about tomorrow...
Ann and Pat and I are meeting at 9 am to assemble and install the plant ID signs. It would be wonderful if a few other folks could stop by to help set up. We're going to take the fences off from around the trees and remove some of the netting so people don't trip over it. We'll need some hammers or mallets to pound in the stakes. Please bring one if you can. I'm going to bring a wheelbarrow and some tools - just in case.
Pat planted some more perennial vegetables today and I raked the path. The site is looking great.
We also need to prepare the sign for the unveiling - not sure exactly how we want to the unveiling, but I'm sure we can figure something out tomorrow.
I plan to bring a table and two chairs along with NENA stuff including membership forms, clipboards, and our walking maps. I'll also have a few copies of the complete plant list for the garden. Pat is making dandelion tea. I'll be bringing cups and garbage bag.
Mike - I assume you have the banner - please bring it along if you can.
Ann or Mike - Do you have any blank sign-in sheets - I can't find any. If so, please bring some along if you have some.
Here are my current thoughts of the event.
Fiddlehead will start performing around at 11 am.
It would be great to have people at both ends of the trail welcoming folks as they arrive - and someone near the table to answer questions.
I plan to ask people to gather around 11:15 am near the bench nestled in the big mound - they can spread out along the path, the road or into Lois' yard if the crowd is big.
I was going to make some brief comments - mostly thank yous - and then have folks mosey down to witness the unveiling of the interpretive sign. I'll tell folks to stick around after the unveiling to explore the garden and join Pat on a tour.
I'm thinking we'd be done no later than 12 pm.
Someone suggested we do a sing-along to a short version of the NENA anthem featuring the Joy Avenue verse, but it doesn't feel like it would fit with this event. What do others think?
Thanks again to all of you for all your help.
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
Peter
