Hi 2011,

This is to remind you of the ATKT rule in our institute (In case you are not aware)

A student of the first year will be allowed to next year irrespective of the backlogs at the first year.

If the student has backlogs from the first year (Sem I & II), then:

  • She/he will be permitted to take semester III examination only if she/he has a minimum CGPA of 2.0 up to semester II.
  • She/he will be permitted to take semester IV examination only if she/he has minimum CGPA of 2.0 up to semester III.

If a student has less than 2.0 CGPA then:

  • She/he will be permitted to take semester III examination only if she/he has cleared semester I.
  • She/he will be permitted to take Semester IV examination only if she/he has cleared semester I & II.

I interpret this rule as:

  • Those who have cleared semester I can take semester III exams (Irrespective of the CGPA).
  • Those who haven’t cleared need to maintain a CGPA of 2.0 (including semester II GPA) to take semester III.  Similarly for semester IV. (Am unsure whether my interpretation is right. Marking a copy to Mr. Dipak, with a request to confirm.)

Generally, the students who have a backlog will NOT have the CGPA given in the mark list, but the university calculates the CGPA, excluding the failed papers, to see if the student has maintained a CGPA of 2.0.

I was supposed to have mailed this before leaving the institute, but refrained because many of you were stressed without an internship.

Regards,

Rejil Krishnan
