Hi All,
I just thought I would share a few thoughts that have been on my mind.
I've spent 3.5 years in the corporate world. A world where you quickly lose yourself and find that success means being at the top of your game and everything is about the rat race! Doesn't matter if you win it, eventually you are still a rat. There were so many instances where I wished I could turn back time and return to college but could not. Thats when I decided to pause, reflect and think ahead. And here I am today.
These 2 years are not a stop gap arrangement for me. And the years that lie ahead are going to be exciting and thoroughly challenging. But while I'm here I thought I'd make the most of this gift of time. I've met a lot of interesting people, and friends some of who will sit with me 20 years from now and reminisce about experiences that we shared while we were here.
These experiences have to be created, they will not happen on their own. Most of us will never attend college again. There will never be another 'Freshers', there will never be another 'Farewell'. I have decided to attend the Freshers not because it is a party, but because it is an experience, one that I will never have again.
I am going to share this experience with my friends, who mean a lot to me and the juniors and hopefully take back a lot of memories once I leave this place. I shudder to think that if I isolate myself from such activities not only am I discouraging the organizers against future events but I will leave this place only with memories of a classroom, a projector and myriad presentations.
There is a premium we put on our time and on our money, both if spent well, yield high returns. This, I feel happens to be one such occasion. :)
This is not a communication that seeks a million responses (so please do not reply), but one that hopefully leaves you one thought;"What memories do I want to take back when I leave this place?"
Like someone wisely said, "There are some things in life that money cannot buy, for everything else, there's MasterCard".
Cheers
Danny
