Rather than tick-marking the tourist attractions, was more than glad to get a real feel of the place and get opportunities to interact with the locals and camp at a breathtakingly beautiful, dream-like place. The trip begins and ends at Guwahati. The price includes all your fixed expenses (please read the brochure for more details) from Guwahati to Meghalaya and back.
We will meet in Guwahati on Saturday, 8th April by 12:00 pm. After lunch, we will leave for Meghalaya at 14:30, in our Tempo Traveller that will pick us up at the airport. For your return on Sunday, April 16th, please book your flight or train from Guwahati after 15:00, as we will only arrive there from Kaziranga by 11:30.
Please ensure that your flight/train bookings allow you ample time to reach the airport (an hour from the city centre) or the station (at the city centre) as traffic in Guwahati can be heavy at times. Since we'll come in from Kaziranga, group members will get dropped off at the airport, followed by the station.
CONFIRMING YOUR PARTICIPATION
Please confirm your participation by sending us the advance amount of Rs.20,000/- at the earliest, as flight tickets tend to cost more closer to the travel dates. The last date for confirmation is 1st April 2017.
EARTH-FRIENDLY TRAVEL
As you may be aware, carbon emissions are a lot higher for flights than they are for trains. Since flying may be unavoidable for many because of the distance & time involved, we'll try and do a tree-planting session in Meghalaya that can help offset your carbon emissions.
Alternatively, you could make a contribution to the Forest First Samithi in Wayanad, Kerala - they're good friends of ours and are doing amazing work in conserving endangered species of local plants. If you're based in Mumbai, you could join us to volunteer for planting & harvesting sessions at the wonderful Green Souls urban farms after the trip.
In case you have the time, we always recommend train travel over flying as it helps keep our carbon footprint low. The Saraighat Express, Kamrup Express, and Kanchenjunga Express are convenient daily trains to and from Kolkata. Please get in touch with us if you are looking for more train options from anywhere in India.
GROUP SIZE
We're limiting the group size to 14 people (12 participants + 2 JwM trip facilitators) for this journey. People are already starting to confirm, so please let us know about your participation at the earliest.
