Hello,

I am trying to develop a software that translates from english to french. I have download the Joshua decoder and i have set the path on eclipse but i could not find a tutorial on how to start implementation, using Joshua  is there any way i can access documentation to help me start developing a translating software and also help me understand the fundamentals of machine translation.

regards
Elijah.

Hi,

Joshua can be used to train models for machine translation, and also to translate data, once it has a trained model. Information about how to do all of this can be found at Joshua's documentation page:

From your question it seems that you don't have a lot of experience with machine translation. I suggest you take a look at Adam Lopez' very nice survey of the field or Philipp Koehn's textbook.

I hope that is helpful for you.

Sincerely,
Matt Post
