Hi All - Tricia Sullivan, a bookgroup friend of mine, nominated Mike O'Herron for the Chris Kindness award. See below. Mike is a finalist! Please vote and don’t hesitate to spread the word to all communities, groups and individuals with Berkeley connections. The winner receives $1000. - an amount that would certainly come in handy for Mike, the unpaid President of Kye's Climate Action Fund who gave up his financially secure job to attend Haas Business school, in part to learn how to run a non-profit successfully. Mike is also the president of the hippy collective for Cal grad students. He is all Berkeley!
Mike has done an amazing job growing into a strong phenomenal leader of KCAF. One of the first four KCAF grantees - who received an unrestricted $10,000 grant (for operational expenses, living expenses, student loans, etc..) - was a Cal undergraduate student named Sage who introduced a mandatory Cal class taught by students on sustainability to enable students to become climate solutionists. Through KCAF’s bank of mentors, Sage was also introduced to a wonderful mentor. Mike is now presiding over the 2nd round of grant applications that closed August 31.
In Kyeness, with Love and Gratitude,
Wendy & David
