Hi Folks,

I'm trying to find my way through the API. So please bear with me. I got two questions:

1) I tried to run the JoscarTester (checkout from SVN). the only message i get is following; am i missing something?

Connecting to AIM as 444xxxxxxx...
[couldn't load security package; using null security session class]
login connection state is now INITING: null
login connection state is now RESOLVING: null

2) I saw in the JOscarTester code that the username is parsed to integer  (Line 154: this.uin = Integer.parseInt(this.sn);
Yet, AIM  allows one to use email address as user name. How can i use such an email address to connect with joscar?

Thanks,

Max Bridgewater.

Max,

1)       Google is your friend. This has been answered before

2)       Look at projects which use joscar. Like JClaim.sourceforge.net

Good luck.

And the parseInt – that’s probably an icq example you are looking at.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for your feedback. Sorry if i have to sound unfriendly but i
feel i need to say this.

1) I spent more than 3 hours trying to get things started; obviously i
couldn't.
2) The fact that people keep asking these basic questions should be an
indication that something is not as straightforward as it should be.
3) Giving a reasonable answer once prevents you from answering the
same question next times.
4) I'm not sure what Google you are using but the Google i know
doesn't answer the give any single relevant result to any of the
following query lines:

login connection state is now INITING: null
login connection state is now RESOLVING: null

5) Requesting people to look at JClaim to get things started is really
not things should be. Imagine each projects you had to deal required
you to go through such an advaced project to get a clue of what is
gping on...

I'm not sure if i'm getting it right but i have the impression that
you are being a bit arrogant. Excuse me if my impression is wrong. But
if it's by any mean relevant, then i just would like to gently hint
that it doesn't make any good to anybody: a) not to the community, b)
not to the project, c) not to me, d) not to you.

In ths respect, please, if you are not willing to answer questions,
please simply let them unanswered.

best regards,

Max.

Max,
1) Things are never simple. Not every question can be answered with a
Yes/No/RTFM or some other 5 second answer. HENCE I sent you to the place
where all your "how to" questions will/should be answered.
2) Yes, perhaps things aren't as they should be, but HEY - wanna make it
better? - you are welcome to help.
3) Again, go here: jclaim.sourceforge.net. Find the class
OscarConnection.java. Read through it to answer your HowTo questions. When
that proves insufficient, post concrete questions here.

4) Don't bitch about how poorly something is done - contribute and make it
better.

And 5) Arrogant answer is still an answer that you couldn’t get from google
yourself ;) Don't be mad, I didn't mean to sound arrogant. Just we get these
RTFM/RTFC questions WAY too often. Cause no one searches. Even through these
messages. People just post cause no one cares about the other guy's time.
