I recently realized how awkward I am when using the word "anniversary." The standardized way to say it is 30th anniversary, but I wonder if I could also use 30 years anniversary, 30-year anniversary or 30 year anniversary. I would assume it would either be the first or second one, but a friend of mine told me the last one is the only correct one. Shouldn't you hyphenate between 30 and year because they are merged together? Thank you!

Four experiments used the head-turn preference procedure to assess whether infants could extract and remember information from auditory strings produced by a miniature artificial grammar. In all four experiments, infants generalized to new structure by discriminating new grammatical strings from ungrammatical ones after less than 2 min exposure to the grammar. Infants acquired specific information about the grammar as demonstrated by the ability to discriminate new grammatical strings from those with illegal endpoints (Experiment 1). Infants also discriminated new grammatical strings from those with string-internal pairwise violations (Experiments 2 and 3). Infants in Experiment 4 abstracted beyond specific word order as demonstrated by the ability to discriminate new strings produced by their training grammar from strings produced by another grammar despite a change in vocabulary between training and test. We discuss the implications of these findings for the study of language acquisition.

A New Year message is a note that conveys well-wishes on the occasion of the end of one year and the beginning of the next. New Year messages can come in many forms, such as an email, card, or text message, and are generally short (think: a sentence or two.)

Years should be expressed as numerals except at the beginning of a sentence. Most style guides agree that beginning a sentence with a numeral is poor style, so years placed at the beginning of a sentence should be written out as words.

Many people get confused about how to write dates with commas, so here is a rule of thumb: in the month-day-year format (used in the United States), place commas after the day and year. In the day-month-year format (used in the UK and other countries), do not use commas at all.

For example, when we write the 1800s, we are referring to all the years from 1800 to 1899. Within that range are one hundred discrete years; that is, more than one: a plural. We can also refer to those years collectively as the nineteenth century in all lowercase letters.

All-numeral date styles should not be used in formal writing, but there may be times when it is appropriate to use them. When you do, be aware that not all countries express dates with numerals in the same way. American usage calls for a month/day/year date format, the United Kingdom and much of Europe use a day/month/year format, and most countries in Asia use the year/month/day format. Some countries use a combination of these depending on context (Canada, for example, uses all three, depending on who is the recipient of the communication).

And the advantage you get when writing year-month-day instead of day-month-year or month-day-year is, day is dependent on the month and month is dependent on the year so it is easier to program automata that can print date in format year-month-day.

In-year applicants will need to take an age appropriate GL Assessment English test and a GL Assessment mathematics test. The entry requirement is that the school will take students who are in the top 16% of ability for their age cohort.

In-year applications should be made via BCP Council. Further information can be found on the BCP Council website. When Poole Grammar School receives notification of an application from BCP Council the parent/carer of the applicant will be informed in writing, within 15 school days, of the next available date on which the student can take the entrance tests.

The first 3 years of life, when the brain is developing and maturing, is the most intensive period for acquiring speech and language skills. These skills develop best in a world that is rich with sounds, sights, and consistent exposure to the speech and language of others.

Children vary in their development of speech and language skills. However, they follow a natural progression or timetable for mastering the skills of language. A checklist of milestones for the normal development of speech and language skills in children from birth to 5 years of age is included below. These milestones help doctors and other health professionals determine if a child is on track or if he or she may need extra help. Sometimes a delay may be caused by hearing loss, while other times it may be due to a speech or language disorder.

Children who have trouble understanding what others say (receptive language) or difficulty sharing their thoughts (expressive language) may have a language disorder. Developmental language disorder (DLD) is a language disorder that delays the mastery of language skills. Some children with DLD may not begin to talk until their third or fourth year.

We are currently full and have waiting lists for each year group. If your child has previously been deemed selective and a place is not currently available, you can ask for them to be placed on the waiting list for their year group. If a place becomes available, we will contact the person at the top of the list to offer them a place. Please note, you will still need to complete an application form through the Borough of Bexley's website for your child to be added to the waiting list.

Don't worry. This is normal. As preschoolers pick up grammar rules, they tend to apply them in all cases. This is called over-regularization. For instance, they're learning that they need to add "ed" to make the past tense, so they add it to all verbs. Instead of "I went to the store," they'll say, "I goed to the store." More examples: "I winned." "She fallded down."

Making time to hear your child read, even when they can read independently, can be really valuable. By frequently seeing words in print, they will have the opportunity to see how the punctuation and grammar are used to share meaning.

Jan., Feb., Aug., Sept., Oct., Nov., and Dec. are appropriate abbreviations for months. Days of the week may also be abbreviated (Sun., Mon., Tues., Wed., Thurs., Fri., Sat., Sun.). Use no punctuation if listing only the month and the year, but set the year off with commas if listing the day of the month as well. The year should be offset with commas when it is preceded by month and day.
