I have a Zebra LP 2844 Label printer that connects to some very old scales. The scales need to be setup in Line Mode (EPL I) and have a one time only EPL Setup string that is sent to them. The vendor who installed the system jumpered out the power switch, removed the power connection from the inside of the printer, and soldered the power supply output directly to the printer. They followed up by connecting the Power Supply to a UPS. We have about 50 of these printers. When they lose power you have to remove the serial cable, plug in a XP PC, and Hyper Terminal in to send the following one time only commands (OR ON POWER LOSS).
then I went to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Printers and copied the SPL file. I used VISA Write From File Block to Raw write the SPL file and it worked well I didn't change the extension or anything. Anyways hope this helps any LP 2844 \ Labview Users.
You'll then choose a save location, and NI will generate the driver files. On the next screen, you will be given some options for installation. Since I was having no luck adding the drivers through Windows, I let NI install them for me.
I didn't need to do anything with the printer spooling, and I didn't need to uninstall the official Zebra drivers. But be aware, once you install the NI drivers for the device, you won't be able to print from the Zebra utility anymore unless you reinstall the Windows drivers. Your mileage may vary.
I also had alot of trouble getting the driver to install once the Zebra driver had been installed. No matter what I did windows would always install it as a printer with the Zebra certified drivers. There are many reasons why this happens which I will not discuss. However, I did notice that the NI-Visa Driver Wizard had no problem removing the certified drivers and foring the generated files to install.
I needed a 4x6 label printer so after a lot of research I found that the cheapest option was a used zebra 2844. Now as I found out, not all Zebra 2844's are created equally. UPS (and I think FedEx too) have their own version of these. Zebra drivers will NOT work on them. They're basically the same exact unit as the Zebra 2844, just with special firmware so you can only print their labels. Trying to update the firmware with zebra firmware will not work either.
You can identify these because on the front of the printer the sticker will say "Thermal 2844" or "UPS LP 2844" instead of LP 2844 with a little zebra head. Also the model number on the bottom will be UPS LP2844. A lot of people on eBay and other places are incorrectly listing the UPS printers as Zebra printers. That's what happened to me. I purchased the UPS one unknowingly, installed the zebra drivers, and it didn't work.
Have no fear though as there is a solution. It took me hours of searching but I found free drivers that will make the UPS print anything. They're made by a company called Seagull Scientific. Make sure you get the " Zebra UPS 2844" drivers and not the "Zebra LP2844" drivers. Install and Voilà
Good afternoon Spice Heads. I am having issues with a Zebra printer, model TLP 2844-Z on a new windows 7 (64 bit) machine. I can install the printer. I used this for the drivers ( -downloads/desktop/tlp-2844-z.html Opens a new window... which may not be what I actually need).
Make sure you have the latest windows 7 64-bit drivers for that printer. Uninstall the printer completely. Restart the computer and install it again. Also make sure the stock (page size matches to what you are printing) on.
After the last update, my printer driver disappeared. I have a Zebra LP2844 thermal printer that I use for business. It was there and working fine, but now it disappeared. I added it again, choosing the same driver I've used before from the list the Mac shows, but now it won't print at all! Please help!
To determine if the current printer driver is still compatible with the latest version of macOS Big Sur, we'd recommend contacting the printer manufacturer. If the current driver isn't compatible with the latest version of macOS Big Sur, please continue to work with the manufacturer to determine when a compatible printer driver may be available.
I found a similar question here, that points to this other answer. It makes perfect sense that the default driver being installed by Windows when I plug the printer prevents Chrome from accessing it (just like Ubuntu does).
Worldship is compatible with most thermal label printers that will print 4" x 6" and 4" x 8" labels, as well as standard desktop laser and inkjet printers. Follow the documentation that comes with the printer to install the correct driver and for setup instructions.
DriverGuide maintains an extensive archive of Windows drivers available for free download. We employ a team from around the world which adds hundreds of new drivers to our site every day. How to Install Drivers Once you download your new driver, then you need to install it. To install a driver in Windows, you will need to use a built-in utility called Device Manager. It allows you to see all of the devices recognized by your system, and the drivers associated with them.
Many device drivers are not updated through the Microsoft Windows Update service. If you are having trouble finding the right driver, stop searching and fix driver problems faster with the Automatic Driver Update Utility. Automatic updates could save you hours of time.
The Driver Update Utility automatically finds, downloads and installs the right driver for your hardware and operating system. It will Update all of your drivers in just a few clicks, and even backup your drivers before making any changes.
Many computer problems are caused by missing or outdated device drivers, especially in Windows 11. If your desktop or laptop is running slow, or keeps crashing or hanging, there is a good chance that updating your drivers will fix the problem.
go into your printers, find your zebra printer and right click on it, select Printer Properties then I believe under the general tab near the bottom put a CHECK in the box next to the statement that says "Use device driver settings" (instead of the application settings).
I decided to purchase a used Zebra LP2844 thermal printer off of Craigslist for $110. A popular new option for sellers these days is the DYMO LabelWriter 4XL Label Maker, but the older Zebra thermal printer does the job just fine, and it was more than 50% cheaper than the DYMO new.
The biggest hassle of using the older Zebra thermal printer instead was finding a working driver that was compatible with Windows 7. After hours of scouring Google, I found that the Seagull Scientific driver worked flawlessly with the printer except for a few quirks.
