Jorani LMS is a great tool. Thank you!

In our organization we need to file monthly presence/absence reports on paper. Is it possible to export the employee-specific monthly presence in a printer-friendly way?
Printing the html page is not satisfactory, due to the scroll-bar of the calendar view and the display/formatting of the tables.

Thank you for your help.

Hello,

If a developper is motivated to code such a feature, you'd need to give more information:
  • What are the information that you want to print?
  • Could you create a mockup?
  • Who will use this feature? It seems that is for employee from your description. And today the presence report is intended to HR users.

Hi,

answering your questions: This feature would be for HR/accounting (not the employees), in order to file a piece of a paper.

I created a little mockup that shows what information could be on such a monthly report. For HR and accounting
it is important to know the types of leaves as well (sick vs. holiday). The report would show the number of
leaves for the month, and finally the overall balance on one page.

What do you think?

Hi,

The tabular calendar is nearly impossible to export in Excel, Word or even PDF.
You may have notice that it is very hard to print it from the browser without using an add-in.
The problem comes from the graphic representation of half-days (|\ or /| or |\|).
The best I can do is to export the list of accepted leave requests, the leave balance and the monthly stats.
However, I will not be able to export the schedule.

Hi,

I've finally found a solution to export the linear calendar into Excel. It is a bit different, but it shows the information.
Incendentally I've added a printer-friendly report from the presence report:
http://demo.jorani.org/hr/presence/1/9/2015 (sorry the data of public demo is a bit messy).
It is difficult but you'll find all the information of the mockup.
Your point about the sum of leave duration grouped by leave type makes sense, so I added it to the presence report.
What is your feedback ?

Hi,

Thank you very much for taking the time to implement this feature, I guess several people will be very grateful.

I had a go at it this morning, and it seems to tick all the boxes from the mock up drawn by Hans Lamecker. I looked at the exported excel sheet, it look all right to me.
I first opened it with an old version of Libre Office (3.x) and it was very badly rendered, but that was expected, I did not have high hopes. I then tested with MS Excel and the sheet is really neat.
This was a cursory test, using the demo data which is as you said yourself not really representative, but our HR people will test a bit more in the next few days, but Hans Lamecker already had a look at a printed exported report and had a good feeling about this.

Ben.

Hi,

thank you very much for implementing this feature ("presence report")! You "excel-led" :-)

This definitely can help us for our processes. There are, however, a few issues, I would like to discuss:
  1. The leave balance in the presence report seems to be buggy (or I am misunderstanding). Although it states the right "date of report" as the last day of the month, it seems to compute the actual balance/report for the current day. Can you reproduce this?
  2. Would it be possible to visualize "half days" in Excel somehow? E.g. use two columns per day and colorize only the first for the first half-day, and the second for the second half-day?
  3. Could the layout of the Excel sheet be improved by moving the days overview to the right of the employee summary, and the leave type table below the employee summary?
I guess the third point sounds like even higher "excel-ling"...

Hi Benjamin,

thank you for implementing no. 2 (half-day visuals in excel)!
