Hi, who's out there?

I have a  weird slideshow issue. I installed DJ slideshow on a site, and it worked well for a while, then it stopped working. Nothing changed in the back end, just one day you go to the site and there's no slideshow.

After a bunch of fiddling and googling, I gave up and installed Code 7 slideshow, which worked just fine for a while, then stopped also. One day there's a slideshow, next day -- no slideshow.

If I go to a browser I don't use often, it'll load the slides. But then my client will tell me that it's the same browser she uses, and there is no slides.

I really don't want to switch to a third slideshow, thinking the same thing might happen again.

Hi Meg,

Did you recently install an update to DJ Image Slider? I had the same issue when I updated it just recently. They have an article on their website about it:
https://dj-extensions.com/faq/dj-imageslider-faq/dj-imageslider-doesn-t-work-after-update-from-ver-2-x-to-3-x

However, the steps they suggested didn't work for me. There seemed to be some kind of irreconcilable jQuery conflict between DJ Image Slider and another extension (the drop-down menu I'm using for navigation). I haven't had this trouble on any other site, even sites that use DJ Image Slider and the same drop-down menu.

The site that's having trouble is *not* hosted on my server, unlike most of my clients' sites. That leads me to a wild guess that there's something on the server side that's causing the conflict....? I changed PHP versions at the client's host, but that didn't do the trick.

In the end, the only thing that worked was to reinstall the old version of DJ Image Slider! I can send that to you off-list if you like. I didn't uninstall the new version - just installed the old one over it, and the slideshows worked again.

Hope that helps -
Anne

Hmmm... thanks, Ann, I'll try that. I've got the Code 7 one installed now, but if reinstalling worked for you, I'll try that for DJ.

I can get the DJ update, but thanks...

Meg,

If you scroll down to the comments on that article I linked to, you'll see what the developer says about this issue.

Thanks for your help, Anne. I've got it going again. I just hope it doesn't disappear again.
