"Do I need to create a Category LIst module displaying only “main street” articles and assign it to an individual page"..?
My answer: the your site visitor cannot always see your categories. Maybe, maybe not.
Is "main street" the main content of your site together with all other pages in "words"? If yes then maybe it could be one item in category list.
I looked the site link through and wondered, why you asked instead of just putting a picture to that "main street page". I think you could put pictures to all pages that display in "word". But why you don't make their lists of links smaller and put pictures to look nicer, maybe also some short text on the top of a link list or a picture on either side or top of list or bottom. You know how to insert pictures into pages. Only you have to make room for pictures somewhere.
But I have questions about menus, content and purpose of the site. For me it looked like your main content is in "word" and your home page is actually "about" page. Could you sift thinks around and put what is in "word' into home page and set another page in main menu for "about". In other main menu items you did not have any content. Could you set those into sub menus instead of main menu? And "word" is not too descriptive, how about "publications", which you don't need, if you decide to move them into home page, but you can also call home with whatever name you like.
