Hi all,

Do any of you have experience with In Motion Hosting for Joomla sites? I'm considering switching to them because I haven't been super happy with HostGator.

With my VPS at HostGator, I've had pretty steady issues with things like outgoing email being wrongly marked as spam; database table crashes; a mysterious "overage" that they couldn't explain; and the occasional 6- or 12-hour server downtime. They've also been very slow to answer support requests - it can take anywhere from two hours to *three weeks* to get a response.

I host about 75 sites - almost all Joomla, with a handful of static sites. I'm looking at In Motion's lowest-level VPS: http://www.inmotionhosting.com/vps-hosting

I'm currently paying HostGator $80/month for 1 TB of bandwidth and 60 GB of disk space, and In Motion is offering 2 TB bandwidth and 60 GB of SSD space for $45/month ($30/month for the first year). So there's definitely a cost savings, but I don't want to run the risk of getting even worse support.

Thanks very much for any advice you can offer!

-Anne

I have only one site with In Motion that I inherited -- but I have been very happy with their telephone support.  They are quick and courteous, easily resolving what few issues we’ve had.

I host an array of wordpress and static sites with Inmotion reseller, also as a transplant from Hostgator. They dropped my (and my clients) sites for over a week with exposed databases that were deleted and I had to put tickets in to restore each and every account, then they billed me that month!!!

I even developed a couple magento sites on inmotion and they ran alright. I mean they are not top of the line, but are on par with what Hostgator used to be before they were bought out. On occasion you can tell its shared hosting (slow site speed).
They do allow ssh access and so far, I'm content with their service. For shared hosting, I'd recommend them based on my experience.

I have moved most of my sites from HostGator to InMotion hosting. I have had excellent service from them and no problems so far. One thing that I especially liked was their willingness to move some sites for me. I generally like to do that myself but I tested them on a couple and they did a great job. I'm very pleased.
