I’m in the beginning stages of rebuilding my web site and have run into an issue which I can’t remember how to figure out.

The following page is a Category List Menu item. The category description is actived and contains a masthead logo and brief description, which is what I want. However above it appears the category title as text, which I do not want.

http://mohilldesign.com/pages/main-street

Here are the Menu Item settings I’m using:

Category / Category Title = hide
Options / Show Category = Hide

Category / Category Description = Show

What am I missing?

Joomla! 3.4.1
JS Elan Template

Do you have anything in your page heading? I use a lot of category lists and have the same set up and it doesn't show the category title.

Jill,

I don’t have a page called “Main Street”, so there is nothing to check there.

All of the articles found on http://mohilldesign.com/pages/main-street are assigned to the category “Main Street”. The page is being displayed as a Menu Item / Category List.

Readers will find a link on the following page to the various categories I’ve assigned to each ‘words’ article:

The text links on that page are coming from an unassigned menu called “private”.

Well my brain isn’t working too well right now either so not sure what is going on.  Hard to say without seeing the back end.  I usually find things by trial and error half the time.  Good luck, I’m sure you will figure it out.

When I run into issues I can’t figure out, I normally walk away for a bit, then return.

This time I’m heading to bed and will return in the am!

thanks!

The way that I would debug this is to id which menu itemid this is being matched to and then check under the Page Display tab in that menu item. Try temporarily turning off the seo rewrite so you can get the raw url. If there is no menu item for the page, it will often use the menu itemid of the parent page. I’ve sometimes needed to create private menu items for them to match to just to keep it from taking the parent itemid. Of course, then sometimes it’s because I have a private one that it is bumping up against…

Do you mean the H1 text

<div class="content-category">
<div class="page-header">
<h1>main street</h1> </div>

If so sometimes it is in the settings of the menu tab. I hit this periodically and let me know if that is the issue? I forget myself the different places that cause it

Thanks Andy. Changing from Global to No solved the issue.
