We (company I work with) have a Joomla 1.0.15 website. We installed
Joomla 1.5 in a folder in the 1.0 directory, in order to view the
website and administrator in a web browser. This is the error message
I get.

jtablesession::Store Failed
DB function failed with error number 1046
No database selected SQL=INSERT INTO jos_session
( `session_id`,`time`,`username`,`gid`,`guest`,`client_id` ) VALUES
( '5f643e06c9f285dbb3bc4b850e9ec0bf','1233083288','','0','1','0' )

Has anyone had this experience? Know how to fix? Thanks, Deborah

Did you create a separate database for the Joomla 1.5 install? You will
need to do that.

Thanks. I'm pretty new at this backend stuff—someone was doing it for
us before. I thought the installation would automatically create the
database. Is this one of those things I do in phpMYAdmin?

Yes. You just have to create the database. The install will create all the
tables and everything else within it. It will need to be a different name
than the one you have now.

Could be -- the control panel on my hosting account has a wizard for
creating a database and database user, then getting them to talk to each
other. Save the username, password, and database name -- you'll need that
information to plug into your Joomla 1.5 install (which you might need to do
again to make the database talk to Joomla).

Some hosting accounts only allow 1 database, or you have to have your host
create one.

Jen, I have it on my calendar that I'm presenting at the New England Joomla
group on Feb 18 about civiCRM. But the agenda on the web site says
something else. Do you know what's up?

Ooops! Yes, we had put you on the calendar and then we got distracted by
planning Joomla Day. I think we might have time to do both, though. Can
you keep your presentation to 30-40 min? Or would you rather present in
March? Let me know.

Thanks!

I didn't install 1.5, so I guess I should delete all the files and
reinstall. But do I create the database before running the
installation program? Since Joomla 1.0 is on the main site, do I
install from the 1.5 folder set up in the 1.0 directory?

Thanks,

Make sure you protect your working site.

Create the empty database before you do the install. Have the 1.5 joomla
upload in the separate folder off of the 1.0 directory and install from
there.
