weird 404 error

I have a web site that was functioning as expected. My only change has been to create a new page which I haven't yet published. My attempts to hit the "home" page yield a 404 error. I have no problem logging into the back end.

I have repaired the MySQL tables.

I checked and the domain is active on my server, and all of the DNS info is correct. The registration did not expire. And, as I said, I can log into the back end.

Does anyone have any inkling as to what might cause this problem?

The issue has been resolved. Somehow, with the upgrade, the default menu was deselected.
