home page weirdness

On the following site we have a slide show on the right side of the "home" page. If you go to: http://carsautorepairservice.com you see the slide show.

If you go to another page and hit the "home" page menu item, you get this link: http://carsautorepairservice.com/index.php/home. In this case everything displays except the slide show (the text is reflowed).

All attempts to modify the menu item "Home" have failed to let me change the URL.

This is a Joomla 1.5 site and a new problem (the client maintains the site, so I don't know what he changed other than adding a couple of links to social media sites from the home page).
