Dear Summer of Code mentors and students,

Please be aware that the mid-term evaluation is coming up. This means
that all your work will be reviewed by your mentor, and he/she will
perform the mid-term evaluation before the 14th of July.

Ian and me will also take a good look at the work done so far, and
help the mentors with the mid-term evaluation. Keep in mind that code
needs to be checked in. A negative mid-term evaluation will be
performed when *NO* code is committed.

A negative mid-term evaluation means that the program will end for
those who don't pass. The following project have the following commit
status:

* JmediaManager: 6 weeks since last (initial) commit, 3 weeks since
last blog...to little progression so far.
* JContactMiniWeb: 2 days ago, way to go Chantal! Blogging is a bit
outdated, please send an update Chantal to the blogs...
* JContentTypes: 6 days ago, very good Ercan. Also the blogging looks
great and up to date.
* JContentLayout: last commit is very new (< 2 days). Blog is also
outdated, please provide us with an update Jaap.
* JForms: code committed a week ago. please make sure you keep us up
to date in your blogs @ Mostafa
* JMultimedia: very active, very recent commits and blogging. Great
work Marcelo!
* I can't find any reference to the Mozilla add on, blog is pretty
outdated. Sam and Shree can you update the code and blog?
* JMuldiDB: no code committed yet!
* JOpensocial: code in SVN is a bit ourdated, last blog is also pretty
recent. An update on the project details in a blog would be very
welcome.
* JResearch: the paint of SVN is not yet dry, just some new code
committed (like that). Also steady and very well blogging, looks like
a very good project going on here.
* JSemantification: subversion is 2 weeks old, please update. Last
blog is from April, please update us using the blog @Danh.
* JTags: code is recently commited, and also the blog is not that old.
Would like to see a small update in a blog.
* Junit: code up to date, and also the blogging. We would like to see
more unit tests written.
* JTaskIdea: no code committed yet!
* JContentVersioning: code and blogging are recent. Please send in a
final blog before the mid term to update us on the status.

Some other project have committed code some days and even some weeks
ago. Please make sure you update your code base in SVN.

Ian and I want to hear a short ping back from the mentors on the
project progress, please contact us via mail or Skype directly. Thanks
in advance.

Regards, Wilco

Wilco ~

Nakul has been working on the project and I have been in contact with him, at least weekly, to check his progress.  I will talk to him about committing the code. I was not fully aware of the process and apologize for his tardiness in committing. He is working on sections of the project, rather than the whole project, so his progress may  not be indicative of the amount of work he has done.

I have been evaluating his work and will contact you again in a few days when he has committed the code. ~ debi

So far only two mentors responded...when I return from hollidays (2,5
weeks from now), I will contact every mentor who has not responded
individually and see what the project is about.

In the mean while I urge every mentor to perform the mid-term
evaluation. To make that happen use the Google application that can be
found at http://code.google.com/soc/2008/mentor_home.html. The mid
term evaluations that have not been comitted before the 14th of July
will automatically fail and drop the program, so mentors please make
sure you perform the mid-term evaluation on time!

Students, please go to the student area http://code.google.com/soc/2008/student_home.html
and answer the questionnaire.
