Hi,

I have now sent the Joomla! Contributor Agreement to everyone for e-
signature. We prefer that you check the optional box but you do not
have to. I sent individual ones to students and corporate ones to
mentors, but if you need the other just post here and I'll resend
tonight. Also if you have any questions about what it means ask here
because probably someone else does too.

Elin,

How is this any different than me contributing to Joomla! individually and why does it require me to sign a contract.  Sorry, I come from a family of lawyers and I was taught to be nervous whenever someone wanted me to sign something.

If we don't sign this, does that mean we can not participate in the JSOP?

Thanks,
Will

It is just the same as doing it individually, you have to sign whether
you do it as an individual or as an employee or proprietor of a
company.

We only give branch access to people who sign the agreement, which is
why it was stated as a requirement for participation as a student or
mentor.

Louis discussed why we need a CLA here:

If you never commit anything to our tree then actually it really means
nothing. But, I'd certainly suggest that you have one of your family
members take a look at it if you are worried.

Unfortunately, my family likes taking the time to give me free legal advice about as much as I like taking the time to help fix their computers.

I read it over real quick and it looks pretty clear that it only involves anything I submit back to the OSM, so there shouldn't be an issue.  If the OSM comes and takes my car away one day, though, I'm calling you, Elin :-D

Signed.  Thanks for your help,
Will

Yeah, this is just about anything that could potentially end up in the
codebase of the CMS, the framework or some other project if we ever
did another applicaton.
