There are many project management softwares around and most of then
are used as an intranet tool, baseCamp rocks and joomla too. So
imagine to be able manage projects inside a joomla site, where you
still can have all content management features from joomla and a
portfolio that can be automatically updated with the progress of your
projects.

There is a lot of simple and useful features missing below there is a
list of some features that we can be implementing during JSOP:

- Tasks -> This is a to-do list grouped according to milestones.
Tasks can be added, edited, assigned to a person, removed and
commented. When a task is assigned to a person, commented, or changed
an e-mail will be sent to the related people.

- Milestones -> We can have a calendar view for the milestones, but
the main goal is just to group tasks in the same timeline.

- Generate Documents -> Use the project informations and task to auto-
generate some basic documents for the project (eg: Requisites, Product
Backlog ) based on templates.

- Program Management -> A program serves to group related projects, a
project can belong to a program, and we can measure the progress of a
program by the completing projects.

"A program refers to a group of related projects managed in a
coordinated way to obtain benefits and control not available from
managing them individualy. Programs may include elements of related
work outside the scope of the discrete projects in the program." PMBOK

- Portfolio Management -> A portfolio serves to group a collection of
projects and programs, each project or program belongs to some
portfolio. This will be useful to list projects on the frontend for
clients, and different views can be implemented

"Portfolio management refers to the centralized management of one or
more portfolios and
inc1udes identifying, prioritizing, authorizing, managing, and
controlling projects, programs, and
other related work. Portfolio management focuses on ensuring that
projects and programs are
reviewed to prioritize resource allocation, and that the management of
the portfolio is consistent
with and aligned to organizational strategies." PMBOK

Would be interesting to have different views for different roles
because clients, users, team, manager... they all need different view
of the project

Well folks this is just some ideas and i want to hear more from the

Yes your right,
I had seen that projectfolk (http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/
communities-a-groupware/project-a-task-management/1389) is also an
good resource to study,

students must note that the goal of this projects it to develop a new
way to manage remote projects (not to reinvent the wheel), while much
Project Management Systems today are used on intranet only with focus
on Team and Manager only, then our approach here is to create a tool
that will be useful to clients, users... and everybody, the team and
manager are responsible for adding and completing tasks while the
others can follow and give feedback as the project progress, thats why
different views are so important to the different roles.
