Hi all,

Today a met up with Niels, my Summer of Code student. Turned out Niels
is from Belgium just like myself and studies in Leuven (famous Belgian
University City) which is only 30 min away. So today we met up at
Leuven's most famous University square, had a good Belgian beer and a
few chats and afterwards went for dinner and offcourse more beer ;)

Laurens Vandeput (development working group member and last years soc
student and this years mentor) also joined us. Laurens studies in
Leuven and doesn't live far from my place.

With Niels we talked about his work for Joomlaboard, his ambitions for
this years soc, ... and off course about 1.5. It was a great way to
get together and I'm sure it won't be the last time. Already looking
forward to another visit to Leuven, and eum yep, some more beer !

It sounds like Summer of Code has really landed in Belgium this year
and it's gonna be a lot of fun. I would love to hear from other
mentors about their first meetings with students, and off course from
students about their first impressions. Don't be shy, share away and
put your stories on the list !

Cheers,

Johan

Ah you should have told him that you've learned a lot of usefull stuff
from me and that I'm great at mentoring! Bad student, bad! :D

Btw,
I think we both enjoy talking each other, Aini is *really* motivated
to do stuff for SoC and we chat almost every day. Hope I'll meet my
SoC student someday as well :)

She's doing some research for her SoC project at the moment as well as
her daily tasks means doing research for uni. Really awesome stuff, I
don't understand a word from that. It's something about location-based
routing :). Aini's more geeky then most of us, 100% geek girl.

cheers
mat
