You might know I'm working on joomlaforum, I had an intresting
discussion with johan on it. In that discussion we determined it would
be good to use a node based structure for the categories and their
children. I'm looking for some information on them, if anyone has
intresting links on the subject I'd be really thankfull.
Also could one of the mentors point me to last years soc project that
implemented an nbs for joomla?
Thanks
Niels

Good to hear that, I was hoping you were going into that direction.
NBSs are a great way to handle forum categories, as well as forum
posts, I think!
Here are some of the links which I found very useful when I started
reading more about the Nested Sets Model:
An article by Joe Celko, who is a very well know person when it
comes to SQL and modeling sets in SQL. I'm currently reading his book
"Trees and Hierarchies in SQL for Smarties", which I can really
recommend very much!

Pretty cool page from MySQL itself. Definitely worth reading.

Sorry, it's in german only. Maybe google translate can make
something useful out of this? At least that's the article I started
out with.

Seems that the SoC code from last year is not available yet on the new
Joomlacode.org Forge. I've a checkout from the 2006 SVN (from the old
forge) laying around here, if you would like an export, just let me
know. Maybe we should contact each other anyway? Might make sense, if
we are both working with nested sets the summer...
