Hi, Brian  ,The first ever Joomla! Day Kenya was held at NaiLab Nairobi  Bishop Magua Centre, 4th Floor Ngong Road .
Last Week on  Friday 16 March 2012,The first participant came in 2 hours earlier not only  was he not from Nairobi but from Kisumu city 500Km away from Nairobi but he is disabled which  encouraged the team   .The  Joomla community had arrived and was ready to hear the speakers , some speakers were ;

Denis Mbuvi , CIO East Africa,who presented on Possibilities for Media when using Joomla™! CMS for their Websites then Paul Kukubo Chief Executive Officer,ceo Kenya ICT Board who gave atalk on the importance of contributing to the Joomla community and to open source matters,after which Linet Kwamboka of Kenya Open Datawho showed as Opportunities that can be used by Joomla® web developers from Kenya Open data followed by Managing a successful online store using Joomla! ™ Mr. Sean Klotsman Red Component who gave a great presentation after which a Q & A session followed,More practical presentation was held by Gerald Gocho and gave Tips to Security on Joomla sites and building websites in 45 minutes,more speakers who brought presented on value added services where by Moses Kemibaro Mobile advertising of InMobi,Managing a Classifieds site when using Joomla by Munyutu Waigi -Pigiame.com 

Finally the  community Requested that we have another Joomla Day and create a forum  and competition to award the most innovative Joomla website or applications and also create a formal Joomla user group Kenya and all in all the Joomla Kenya community  thanked the sponsors OSM,Kenyaweb,Nailab,RedComponent and all the community  Members who were able to attend the event and they all Look forward for Joomla Day Nairobi 2013.

Organising a JoomlaDay is hard work but very rewarding
