I've just returned from the Open Day Registration for the Galway Branch of the #CoderDojo Movement.

There were 120 kids lined up at 11:45 eager to become the next coding ninjas. We expected 30.  We will be dividing the classes into scratch for beginners, scratch for advanced., "beginners HTML" and "Game development with Html5 and Joomla!".

We will be using the Joomla! game engine that I've been building.  Once we get the code onto github, I will be traveling to the different dojos across the country every Saturday to act as  facilitator (game guru) for both students and mentors. The classes will comprise of kids 12 years and up. (tho' the dojos facilitate kids younger than this).

While not part of any formal educational system or body, the Galway Dojo is being hosted by DERI and National University of Galway, and I'm thinking it will greatly help me to think 'outside of the box' over the coming months and years.

Wow! that is great!  While, like you said, not part of a formal education - that just goes to demonstrate the versatility of Joomla! as an educational tool!

That is very exciting!

I'm not a gaming guru, but definitely let us know if there is anything we can help with, whether coordinating help from the Joomla! community, or whatever you need assistance with!

I'll definitely take you up on that. Since it's a 3rd party extension I won't go into details here, but I'll contact you off list to get things started :-)
