Manually updating

https://docs.joomla.org/Updating_Joomla_%28Manual_Method%29#Delete_removed_files ... running /cli/deletefiles.php from the command line will run the administrator/components/com_admin/script.php will it not ?  If so then it will negate the need to view the file and find the listed files

I have reservations about advising to manually update because if it is needed then there is something seriously wrong with the site.  That 'something' could be a Hack.  Surely far better to :


• Delete the folders/files
• Install Joomla of the same version to a new database

• Install the 3rd party extensions into the new Joomla

• Edit the configuration.php to connect to the original database
• Then update normally

imho that is easier, quicker and rectifies the cause of the update failure (including removing of any possible hack !!!)
