Hi,

I not sure if anyone has encountered this but i am using gmail to send my user activation email once a user creates an account. My mail setting is using SMTP and all email sends out fine. My component does send our emails as well and these emails do not get redirected to SPAM folder. Only the Joomla user registration gets sent to Gmail Spam. Why is that so?

Has any encountered and resolved it? Would appreciate any help, thanks.

Hi,

I'm afraid it's Gmail itself that decides the e-mail belongs in the Spam folder. Not much you can do about that (other than tell users to open the mail anyway.)

Kind Regards,

Hi,

I am actually trying something called SPF records. You can enable it on your domain hosting via CPanel. I have tried it and it seems to be working for now. My user activation email does not get sent to the Spam mail. I am still testing to see if it works.

Valerie

Not everybody has a cpanel but SPF, sender policy framework is but an entry in your DNS settings.
Oversimplied it whitelists the computers/ip adresses allowed to send mail on behalf of a "domain".

To generate the entries, there are some wizards around
Most likely there are others.. these are the ones i had bookmarked

Hi Marcos,

So far trying SPF has helped in my case. Thanks for the links.

Valerie
