JConnect - United into Prodcution

hi,

I'm Arunoda Susiripala the person who is behind the GSOC 2009 project JConnect (Project on Joomla).

At the end of the GSOC I've to temporally moved away from the project for some personal matters.

Anyway that's the good old past.

And I think we should not abundant great project like this and there is a need for continuation of this project.

also there are lot of changes to be made in the sense of stability and feature wise.

I would like to thank all of you who have help me to continue this project in various ways. And We need each others hands in order to be raised as a community.

So I believe you've enjoyed working with me on the project.

And this is the time to get united as a team to continue JConnect into Production environment.

You can be part of the team in various way as you did. (Coding,Testing,Documentating,Commenting,Publicizing,Translation,etc..)

yes Ryan...

First of all I want say that JConnect is itself cant do anything but with the External Application we can do a lot..

So here's the story...

There are a load of Applications out there in the OpenSource community for different purposes...

let's look @ some..

CMS-Joomla
Blog-Wordpress
Social Networking-Elgg,Status.net (Identi.ca)
Wiki-Media Wiki
Issue Tracking - Trac,Redmine

But they often does not have interoperatability with each other..

and also for our own day day work It's not enough to work with just a single app. Then we need to work with each other.

Then the problem arise How do we connect each other.. (There API could be differ,Languages could be differ.....)

So JConnect is attempt to solve this to some extent...

It's a Joomla based app which allows Joomla to communicate with other external applications and allow interopratability. 

JConnect it selt is a Joomla Extension which gives that capability to Joomla!

and External Application such like (WP,Trac,Elgg must need to be configure with JConnect)

So we've a External App API too...

and for the demonstration purpose I've build an External App for Elgg too..
