Unfortunately, none of the NY airports are very near Manhattan.
LaGuardia is in Queens and the closest to Manhattan, but it seems like
it's always experiencing delays. JFK is also in Queens but on the
Eastern edge, away from Manhattan. It's a lot nicer than LaGuardia,
but further away. Also nice is Newark, New Jersey, but that's the
furthest away.
My personal preference is JFK, but no matter how you slice it, you'll
probably have to take a taxi cab from the airport and that'll run you
at least $40, possibly more. There does exist public transportation
from JFK but it can be a pain if you have a lot of luggage.

That site says the taxis are cash only, but from experience, I know
that there are many these days that take credit cards.
You might want to google for 'jfk airport to manhattan' or something
like that.
