How to execute CLI script in joomla 3

I'm trying to run some of the cli scripts in the /cli folder but for some reason the execute() method of JApplicationCli isn't firing.

It gets as far as getInstance and then seems to die. This happens via the command line or via a browser.

Am I missing something?

Hi,

CLi scripts are not meant to be run from the browser.

If the JApp is dying when you manually execute it, PHP environment may be misconfigured (it has a different php.ini than web setup).

Same thing happens when I run it from the dos prompt. Dev env is windows 7 :-(

Added php exe to my PATH but it seems like it halts at the execute step.
