Joomla dev material for 2017

Hi,

My name is Daniel, I'm a PHP developer since 2002 and Ruby developer since 2012. I need to give support to some Joomla websites and, although I had worked with Joomla in the past, I'm a bit rusty now.

Question:
I'm looking for material on how to develop for Joomla. Do you guys have any recommendation? I tried Udemy, Amazon, and many others, but it's hard to find any Joomla course specific for developers.

I have a preference for videos, but any kind of material is good for me. I found this "Learning Joomla! 3 Extension Development" on Udemy, which I think is pretty good, but I'm not sure their code follows the best practices for Joomla development.

PS: I know this question may have been asked many times (and answered), but this is a subject that is in constant update. A 1-year answer can not be a good answer anymore.

Robbie Jackson just added some great videos to the joomla hello world MVC tutorials  https://docs.joomla.org/Special:MyLanguage/Portal:Developers#Getting_Started.21

It may be a good place to start as he walks thru the whole developing a component tutorial.
