Can anyone advice whether it is good to invest in some serious Joomla
1.6 learning materials now or go slowly till 1.7 is out. I have some
programming and design skills but I'll like to take it to a higher
level. Any advice, people?

Thanks in advance for your tips.

I'd say the sooner the better. Version 1.7 will be an incremental
change over 1.6 and will not be nearly as big a change as from 1.5 to
1.6. So I would guess that most of what you learn about 1.6 will apply
to 1.7. Good luck. Mark

Thanks for the tip. Do you have and reference materials in mind that
you can recommend? (Books, cds, websites, etc)

Well, of course, the 1.6 documents are still a work in progress. Here
are a couple of links in the wiki:

http://docs.joomla.org/Category:Joomla!_1.6
http://docs.joomla.org/Category:Specifications_Version_1.6

Andrew has some good stuff here: http://www.theartofjoomla.com/.

I'm sure there are some other links if you search around. Please feel
free to contribute to the wiki as you learn more and see opportunities
for better docs. Thanks. Mark
