captcha / configurable max-login-failed when logging into admin panel

Ok well, hello everybody, everybody hello to me, this is my first
post, my name is francesco, from italy, i'd like to do something to
help joomla , in development terms.

so, what do you think about the implementation of captcha check and
max-login-failed check against brute forces?

A user plugin could easily handle max logins within 1.5 if you wanted
it to. captcha is available through a custom module which requires a
bit more ingenuity but it is also possible though that mild annoyance
should be fixed in 1.6 (fixed mod_login in com_login).
